The Story:
A long-time follower of my jewelry design evolution, my friend Stephanie inspired me to design a pair of custom earring studs featuring organically shaped sapphires, envisioning stones shining with aquamarine hues reminiscent of the Caribbean Sea.
Once a resident of the bustling metropolitan hub of San Francisco, Steph abandoned city life, finding serenity abroad in Mexico. There she’s able to work remotely, seizing the freedom to seek endless adventures while abiding by a minimalist lifestyle. She originally mentioned the idea to me over some fabulous ramen in Japantown during a brief return to the Bay Area, which has become a go-to meeting place whenever she’s in town—of course, helplessly followed by an indulgence of dangerously delicious mochi donuts. Knowing how conscious she is of the objects she chooses to bring into her life, I felt honored to design these earrings for her. I could imagine it now: Steph rocking these organic sapphire studs that shimmered like the oceans from one of her exciting getaways!
The Design Process:
Steph wanted the sapphires to be bezel set in yellow gold, so we integrated reflective rhodium plating on the bezel seat underneath the stones to ensure that the yellow tone didn’t interfere with the natural, gorgeous color of the gem. We also decided on a flattering pebble shape for the moderately sized stones, which would be terrific for everyday wear. After selecting the sapphire, we created a CAD rendering to crystallize the final vision. From there, the earrings were cast, the stones were set and polished to perfection, stamped with the gold quality hallmark, and lastly imprinted with the Cielomar Jewelry signature moon.

The Final Piece:
The finished piece emerged as an exquisite pair of organic sapphire earrings that will become a classic Steph staple: elegant yet natural aquamarine color studs encircled in timeless yellow gold, perfect for the everyday minimalist seeking her next adventure.
